Is a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine (and participates as faculty in the American Indian Studies Program) and directs the Native American Research and Training Center (NARTC). Dr. J. Joe has over 20 years of experience in administration, teaching, and research. She has and continues to conduct training and research projects collaboratively with a number of tribal and native communities. Some of her research endeavors have been with White Mountain Apache Tribe, Navajo Nation, and groups such as American Indian Wildland firefighters, Intertribal Council of Arizona, California Rural Indian Health Board, Battelle Memorial, Institute for Scientific Analysis, etc. In addition to a number of research reports, book reviews, and monographs, Professor Joe also has over 20 chapters published in edited books and 26 articles in refereed journals with a number of other articles in press. She serves on a number of national and international boards. Some of the courses taught by Professor Joe have included Women and Culture, Indians of North America, Living in the Place of the Sacred, Research Methods in Community based Research, Health Policies, etc. Professor Joe is presently a principal investigator on four research projects and has, over the years, received other multiple sources of research funding and has conducted numerous community-based studies. is an Associate Professor in the College of Education's Special Education, Rehabilitation, and School Psychology. Dr. Fletcher currently coordinates the program for bilingual multicultural learning disabilities at the University of Arizona, where he teaches courses on Cultural and Linguistic Diversity in Exceptional Learners, Assessing Bilingual Learners, Teaching Bilingual Exceptional Learners.(Bio at UofA)
Tommy Begay, a Certified Health Education Specialist, works as Program Director for the Special Education Program for Teachers and Administrators Program. He is also a faculty member in the College of Public Health at the University of Arizona. Mr. Begay is also a doctoral candidate in the Department of Language, Reading and Culture (College of Education). His major field of study is Cultural Psychology, utilizing Cultural Historical Activity Theory to study human behavior, as applicable to education, health education, community health and disease prevention. Annmarie has her BS in Education - major special education; minor elementary ed from the College of St. Rose, Albany, NY MS Ed. in Reading from the State University of NY College at Oneonta Phd student in SERSP with a major in secondary/post secondary Learning Disabilities; Minor in LRC - Multicultural Education; Special Education and Reading Teacher for 17+ years

Lisa has worked at NARTC since 1985. She handles the bookkeeping and administrative duties associated with the center such as travel, course fees, lodging and payroll. Lisa was born in San Antonio, TX but has lived most of her life in Tucson,AZ. She loves the outdoors, hiking, playing softball, camping, etc. She is an animal lover, sharing her home with dogs and cats.
is a Research Associate at the NARTC. He provides technical assistance to the SEPTA program and is responsible for the evaluation component of the program and for preparing the quarterly report.
Peter Goldstein is a resource person who provides technical assistance for NARTC web-based, distance learning courses. He is currently an undergraduate at the University of Arizona , majoring in Optical Engineering.

Depree has her Masters in Education with emphasis Learning Technologies and is in the Doctorial Program at the Dept. of Language, Reading, and Culture in the College. Web Designer and Founder of the Red Pony Heritage Language Team. She is also a computer technician for the distance learning courses and web designer for SEPTA. (Mescalero Apache)
